“On behalf of the chief executive officer, Mister Ozu, and the board of directors, we thank you one and all and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” continues the speaker.
“Happy New Year!” shouts the crowd in replay.
Meanwhile, a woman reading green bar computer printouts walks down an office hallway.
TITLE: WILLIAM ATHERTON
She’s approached by a bearded man in a business suit.
“Hey Holly,” says the man, “What about dinner tonight?”
“Harry,” replies Holly, “it’s Christmas Eve: families, stockings, chestnuts?”
TITLE: PAUL GLEASON
“Rudolph and Frosty?” continues Holly. The man, walking backwards, smiles at her.
“Any of these things ring a bell?” asks Holly.
“Actually,” says Harry, “I was thinking more of mulled wine, a nice aged Brie.. and a roaring fireplace, you know what I’m saying?”
TITLE: HART BOCHNER
Holly turns and looks at Harry, as they stand in her office doorway. She sighs, and steps into her office. Holly looks at her watch and turns to her very pregnant secretary. “Ginny,” she says, “It’s 5:40. Go join the party. You’re making me feel like Ebeneezer Scrooge.”

“Thanks a lot, Ms Gennaro,” replies Ginny, standing up. “Do you think that the baby can handle a little sip?”
“That baby’s ready to tend bar!” replies Holly. Ginny leaves for the party.
Harry is still in the doorway. “Last chance!” he says to Holly, who’s picked up a phone.
“Bye!” she replies to Harry.
The scene shifts to Holly’s home. A young boy and girl are playing on a kitchen floor. Their phone rings.
